Nowadays, I find it very difficult to get up early, thanks to the late nights I keep. Holidays are different, I guess. If you go to bed when the sun sets, it’s much easier to be up early at dawn.
The following set was taken in the Gobi desert, Dunhuang. There were no clouds initially, and so the camera caught graduations of black to blue to gold, all the way down to the horizon of trees and sand.
A little cloud floated in and caught a glimpse of the sun, and then the sky glowed.
And down on the ground, the flora and fauna greeted the new day.

Even I, a night owl, would have made an effort for that. Well done. Such fun adventures you have!

Breathtaking. Since I am not out and about early enough for such a treat, thank you for sharing. Your captures are stunning. ❤

Thanks! I don’t know about your experiences in China, but I was really up early for another reason… there were no facilities nearby and we wanted the pitch black darkness… Hahaha!

I’d want the pitch black darkness in that case as well. 😀 😀
We were lucky to have ample facilities in good hotels.

The colours in the landscapes look amazing especially the the first landscape in blue hour.

Thanks! That was SOOC, but truth to tell, it is probably a bit under-exposed and more dramatic as a result.

Exposure is about getting the right amount of light for the scene, under/over it doesn’t matter. As long as the picture works.

Stunning photos of a place I would never see and at a time I would be sound asleep. But, trips and holidays do alter our sleep cycle.

It wasn’t as remote as it seems, as we were just ten minutes out of town – cross a ditch next to the road and we were in the desert. It was arranged for us to spend just the night there and leave soon after dawn.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
