Dream Conversation

Good morning, Mom!

Good morning.

Did you sleep well?

Did I sleep well? Yes, I slept well.

Any dreams?

Any dreams? Yes, I had dreams.

Oh! What did you dream about?

I dreamed about….. I don’t know what I dreamed about.

Mom was so sure she had dreams but gave up trying to recall them. Interesting!

Conversations are rare and limited to 3 or 4 lines at the most nowadays. We run out of things to say to one another. She doesn’t initiate any conversations and has to be prompted.

  1. Glad that your mom is still responding and talking back to you, because for my maternal grandmother, she’s deteriorated so much so, she’s now, completely, bedridden, and some times, she lacked any responses, and yet , sometimes, she responded, to our, being there, in the room…

  2. Dad used to think his dreams were real – he was dreaming about being a boy on his father’s farm and got up to look for his hay rake, dreaming about playing football, he got up to find his football! Keep talking, keep prompting.

  3. I fell on top of your page and I am so happy to see that you have a place to put down what you are experiencing and better yet have others that understand. While I am not in this space currently, my grandfather went through this so I fear my dad will as well. Most days were bad but when there was that rare moment or day of recognition it was utter joy for us. It gave us something to hold onto, even though it was a moment of delusion. Your mom is so lucky to have you in her life! I wish you all the luck! 🤗
