“Why not?”, he asked.
“Transference,” she said. She forked some salad into her mouth.
“Really? Who do I remind you of?”
She swallowed and paused a beat. “I was ten years old”. She kept her eyes on his face, watching his expression.
He was a sharp one, granted, quick to understand. “Is he still alive?”
She nodded.
“I’d like to kill him,” he scowled. He took a sip of wine and stared unhappily back at her.
Her heart clenched with irrational misgivings. Perhaps she wasn’t being fair. She reached out for his hand, and so it begins…
